Shadows are Fascinating
January 16, 2012 in Photograph, Social, Studio by William
Ever since I took a workshop given by a friend of mine, shadows fascinate me. Not just the shadows that fall off of your subject such as the butterfly or Rembrandt lighting setups, which place the lights to cast shadows off of the subject themselves, but by introducing shadows that create a separate image in our minds of how they got there. I used a hammock that had sat in our garage for a decade and never setup to create these spots of light surrounded by shadows.
I’ve also used natural elements to create the right shadow, such as the sun filtering through a forest in this photo.
